Will my beginner student ride the chair?

All our beginner students start their ski journey in the large flat area between the chair and the lodge.  We call this area the Powderpigs Instructional Terrain, or more commonly known as the "PIT."

Beginner students will not ride the chair until they can turn both ways and stop on command.  Beginners will be “chair checked” by an administrator to ensure chair readiness.  Sometimes this takes 3+ weeks! Every student works at their own pace.  Beginner classes will often be restructured multiple times as chair readiness occurs and again as class needs arise and become more clear once students become more independent on their gear.
Beginner Students and Students under 7 years of age will ride with an adult.

The first run on the chairlift can take up to an hour, and that is completely normal!

Do I need to purchase a season pass for my beginner?

YES!  Your student will eventually ride the chair.  The ski area runs the Pig Chair and passes are required to utilize this chair as well. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that single day tickets will be available, and they often sell out for the weekends. The only cost effective way to guarantee your student will be able to ride the chair is to purchase a season pass.  More info can be found at Seasons Pass Info.
