Will I teach skiing or snowboarding?

Many instructors have both skiing and snowboarding experience. We love having a diverse group of instructors with versatile abilities! Teaching skiing versus snowboarding for Powderpigs is largely the same experience, however the learning curve for skiing and snowboarding is very different, and thus, coaching students through it will be as well.
  1. Due to having a small number of classes and a different learning curve, we typically only take snowboarder instructors that are intermediate-advanced in their ability level. Snowboard instructors typically need to display the ability to make controlled S-turns turns on intermediate terrain to be assigned a snowboard class. Conversely, we are usually able to work with and train skiers of almost any ability level.
  2. Instructors that are teaching with the primary interest of gaining or applying experience working with children will likely be asked to ski.
  3. Instructors with a PSIA certification will likely be asked to teach the discipline that they are certified in teaching.
  4. Instructors that ski and snowboard are typically asked to complete clinics in both skiing and snowboarding. Even if you are assigned only a ski or snowboard class, you may still be asked to substitute for the other.
